Bitan Karmakar of class 10B bagged the first prize at the district level science seminar on the topic SWATCH BHARAT -“ROLE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ; ITS PROMISES AND CHALLENGE” organised by Burdwan Science centre , on 21-08-2017. He will go on to represent the school at state level.
Ropan Mondal and Anindya Sunder Goswami got the first position in Deeptimala Roy Memorial Â Quiz conducted by INDIAN INSTITUTE OF METALS , Durgapur chapter , they will represent Durgapur in the National BPMMQ Quiz in Kalpakkam Chennai conducted by IIM Chennai , chapter
Hem Sheela Model School Celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival
On 4th August , 2017 with great fervour and enthusiasm, Tiny tots from classes Nursery to class 1 conducted an assembly. They sent a beautiful message on how Rakhi symbolizes the sister’s love and prayer for the brother’s well being. They also showcased the scared eternal bond of holy love between a brother and a sister through a number of colourful dance performances, making the environment full of joy and love.
Another year of celebration -another colourful evening 30th July,2017 with all luminaries made it all special. An evening worth remembering with eminent guests from America – Dr. Porter Moore and Mr. Jesn Meller, from India eminent journalist Mr. Suman Chattapadhay, renowned Physicist Dr. Soumitra Sengupta, Prof. A.N Basu(Sr. Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University), well known singer Mr. Prabudha Raha and many others.
It was infact celebrating success Dr. Rabindra N Roy 50 years successful service to the Drury University legacy of teaching, his success as a Professor whose life is to emulated all and the success of his daughter Hemsheela ; 20 years of accomplishments. He in his speech dedicated the evening to his parents Hemchandra & Sheelabati Roy who have taught him this lesson of giving back to the soil
July 31st , 2017 marked the beautiful morning of our esteemed founder President; Dr. Rabindra N Roy 78th birthday. The day was greeted with unparalleled enthusiasm from the students who joyfully presented cards and bouquets to the birthday boy. The occasion was honoured by esteemed guests and friends of the Founder President who also participated in the felicitation of academic achievers of the session 2016-17 ; making the program a grand success.
On 14th July 2017, school hosted the Felicitation Ceremony where 257 students (Class X: 123; and Class XII: 134) were recognized for having acquired the wondrous achievement of scoring 90 percent and above in their AISSCE -Class XII CBSE Board Examination; and a perfect 10 CGPA for AISSE -Class X CBSE Board Examinations.
The celebration was presided by Honorable Chief Guest, Prof. A N Basu, Ex-Vice-Chancellor, Jadavpur University, and Professor Emeritus of Physics. Among our distinguished dignitaries present, were our beloved President Dr. R N Roy, Mr. BibekanandaKoner- Secretary of Trust, other respected trustee and management members and other eminent personalities.
Our chief guest congratulated the high achievers of the day, and encouraged the other students to follow their example.

Three co-curricular activities were organised in the school at different sites for different levels on 23rd June 2017
Bengali Elocution competition was held for students of classes VI-X at the J.N Avenue campus. It was a well organised and well co-ordinated programme to enhance public speaking skill for middle school students. One student from each section participated and the Judges had a different time deciding the best.
The Basketball Tournament for senior secondary boys came to an end with 12D emerging as the champions and 11F as the runners up. The tournament started on 15th June and the semi-finals and final was conducted on 23rd June 2017
The tiny tots of Nursery preparatory and class I participated in Draw as you Like competition on both sites. J. N Avenue and Dhandabag, unleashing their creativity and giving us a glimpse of their colourful world.
International Yoga Day celebration at Hem Sheela Model School
The students of classes VII -IX celebrated the International Yoga Day in Drury Hem Sheela Recreation centre by performing various yoga asanas and breathing exercises under the able guidance of the physical education instructors. It is in keeping with Hem Sheela Model School’s continuous effort to blend tradition with modernity and inculcate in students, the belief that ‘Health is greatest Wealth.’
